Last PTA Meeting of the year TONIGHT !!

Well, the end is almost here.  TONIGHT is the last PTA meeting of the school year 2011-2012.  It has been a great year.  Come out tonight to the GW Cafeteria at 7:30pm to sign up for committees for next year, see what is happening as the year draws to a close and see what is planned for next year, OR just come and get into the raffle and refreshments !!
It's hard to believe we have finished another school year.  They seem to go faster and faster.  Every child benefits from what the PTA does, come be part of it - it's fun and rewarding !!!
Sign-up binders will be out for next years festivities and programs, please come check it out.  The binders will be out again in September, but why not get a head start ??

PTA Meeting Tonight

There will be a PTA Meeting tonight at 7:30 at the George Washington Elementary School cafeteria.



There will be a special presentation for fifth grade parents by 
Mr. Jeffrey Eisen, a sixth grade teacher at the Middle School.  He will be addressing the annual sixth grade trip to Frost Valley; details of the trip and possible ways parents can fundraise to offset the costs involved.



- Come hear teacher and principal reports.
- Committee sign-up sheets will be out for next year.
- Learn about the exciting end of the year activities planned for the kids.
And don't forget there will be a raffle ... you have to be in it to win it !!!

Family Fun Night at the Polls !

Tomorrow while you are going out to vote for the school budget, bring the kids with you.  The PTA/PTSA and SEPTA will be hosting

FAMILY FUN NIGHT AT THE POLLS 

activities for all the kids.  There will be crafts, games, snacks and the kids will get to vote themselves.  Yes, on a REAL voting machine, they will get to choose their favorite snack for field day !!  How exciting for them !!!  So bring them with you.

PTA Meeting, May 21st

Our next PTA meeting is quickly approaching. Next Monday night at George Washington Elementary School our May meeting will be held. Come out and bring a friend !!  Hear from teachers, Principals and PTA Board members to find out what is going on in and around your child's school.

MEET THE CANDIDATES

Come out Wednesday, May 9th to a Candidates Forum and meet who will be running for School Board.  Have some questions ?? This is the place to ask them before the vote.  Sponsored by the West Hempstead PTA/SEPTA/PTSA.  It will be held Wednesday night at the West Hempstead High School Video Conference Room from 8pm - 10pm.  Tell a friend.

PTA/PTSA/SEPTA Joint Meeting - Special Guest

Like most people, Jacy Good's college graduation day in May 2008 was to be one of the greatest days of her life.  But her dreams were shattered just hours after she received her diploma, when a young man caused an accident that took the lives of both Good's parents and left her with a 10% chance of survival.  No one expected Jacy to live past the first 36 hours.

Jacy, along with her fiancee, Steve Johnson, have been speaking to audiences nationwide, sharing their different perspectives on the senseless tragedy that has had far-reaching impact, affecting the lives of many people.  In addition to Jacy telling her story, Steve shares his -- of being the first person to receive the news of the woman he was very much in love with, and what it was like to be by her side throughout the entire rehabilitation process.

Jacy Good was a guest speaker at the High School last month and the children were able to hear her story.  Come and hear the story that moved so many of them.
